South Africa: HE was selling meat as usual and the suspect came with less money, demanding that the victim give him a piece of meat at a lesser price.

When the hawker refused, the suspect st_bbed him and he died on the spot.

The suspect fled the scene.

But on Saturday, cops bust him in Mpumalanga where he has been hiding.

Captain Xoli Mbele said the cops received a tip-off about his whereabouts and went there.

“The detectives arrested a 36-year-old man for murder, and he’s expected to appear in court soon.”

Mbele said the suspect st_bbed 35-year-old Nocelio Vilankulu several times in the upper body on the corner of Edith Cavell and Plein streets in July.

“He was selling meat on the streets when the victim came to his stand to demand meat for a lesser price.”

The victim was certified dead by paramedics on the scene.

Shocked fellow hawkers gave chase, but the suspect outran them.

“We are happy that the victim will find justice at last. That man deserves to rot in jail. Can you kill someone over a petty thing like that,” said a hawker.

Mbele said the knife used in the commission of the crime was recovered. He said the suspect was on the run until the police bust him.

Joburg Central station commander Brigadier Irvin Perumal commended a good working relationship between the community and the cops.
