Beatrice Mtetwa: Chin’ono surviving on biscuits and water in jail

Beatrice Mtetwa: Chin’ono surviving on biscuits and water in jail. This was revealed by the Zimbabwe Human Rights Lawyers who are updating the nation on his bail application hearing which is being held in private after the state made an application for the hearing to be conducted in private.

Prison authorities have reportedly barred journalist Hopewell Chin’ono from receiving food from home and he is said to be surviving on biscuits and water in prison.

ZLHR Tweeted: Beatrice Mtetwa says Hopewell Chin’ono is surviving on biscuits & water in prison as authorities are not allowing him to receive home-made food.

Chin’ono who came to court in iron bars was last week transferred to Chikurubi Maximum prison together with Jacob Ngarivhume who is also facing the same charges. His goggles were also taken away as prison authorities reportedly suspected he might be using them to spy on them.

A picture of him in iron bars while in prison circulated on the internet a few days ago showing how he is being treated while in prison.
